ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Steven F. Samilow has three decades of experience representing clients in complex and varied legal matters. His practice areas include business counseling, business and real estate transactions, state and federal commercial and civil litigation, creditor rights, bankruptcy, foreclosure and foreclosure defense, family law, and labor and employment law and appeals. Before forming his own law practice in South Florida, Mr. Samilow worked in the Miami office of Jenner & Block and with several other large and boutique firms.

Mr. Samilow has first-chaired trials in the state and federal courts. He has handled securities arbitration and other civil arbitration and mediation proceedings. He has authored briefs and argued cases in the state and federal appellate courts. Mr. Samilow’s appellate experience includes both final and interlocutory appeals, and petitions for the extraordinary writs of certiorari, mandamus, and prohibition.

Mr. Samilow is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, the District of Columbia, and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. He is rated AV Preeminent by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell®.

Mr. Samilow received his B. S. Degree in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University where he graduated in the top 12 percent of his class. He received his Juris Doctor Degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Miami School of Law where he graduated in the top 2 percent of his class. He served as an associate note editor of the University of Miami Law Review.
