What kind of experts can you find?
Any kind you want. The experts we find are specific to your case. While we do have experts in an internal database, we always search outside our database as well to find the right expert. You may think the type of expert you need is too hard to find. We have been there too. But rest assured, we have been able to find quality experts in just about every field for every case we have received.
What makes you different from other referral companies or databases?
We screen experts and only charge you for the aspect of the case we are involved in: searching for and finding you an expert. We don’t see the logic behind charging you a mark-up rate on every bill the expert sends just because we were able to locate him or her.
Do you retain the experts for me?
No, James Expert Witnesses performs screening services. Therefore, we only charge you at the beginning, send you your report, and stay out of your working relationship with the expert. We do not handle billing and we never charge mark-up fees. You only pay the expert for his or her stated fees.
What if you can’t find anyone?
If we reach a point in your case where we cannot find anyone, we always contact you, inform you of the situation, and consult with you regarding other types of experts to search for. If we still can’t find anyone, we can re-run the search for you. We are always able to find some experts.
Do you screen experts for previous cases they have worked on or for Daubert objections?

The Basic Screening
Who is it for?
The Basic Screening is ideal for attorneys just starting out with a case, those looking for assistance with discovery, or low budgets. If you need to find experts local to your area or simply want to narrow the search field for future or upcoming cases, this is the most affordable option that produces quality results in a short period of time.
How much does it cost?
We charge one flat-fee of $250 at the beginning of the search.
How does it work?
- We receive details on your case and what you desire in an expert.
- We receive payment for the report and begin the search.
- We draw up a report in 2-3 business days of 20-40 names.
- Your office just processes the list to find an expert to retain.
What do I receive?
You receive a concise cover letter explaining our work on your case and an easy-to-access Excel spreadsheet of the contact information and basic details we find on an expert. This includes the first and last name of each expert, their phone numbers and email addresses, website links if available, current organizations they are with, and city and state they are in. Our report makes it easy to contact each expert in a variety of ways. Simply compare and contrast to find the best expert.
The Deluxe Screening
Who is it for?
The Deluxe Screening is ideal for an attorney who has a:
- Current case.
- Case with tight deadlines.
- Need for a highly-specialized expert in a particular field or industry.
- Desire to retain a high quality expert without having to devote the time to find one.
- Desire to have a list of experts to contact who are already interested in working on the case.
The experts are pre-screened and their information sent in a report that makes it easy to compare them before calling to hire the expert you deem a best fit for your case.
On all of our completed cases, the attorney has hired an expert off of the report we send.
How much does it cost?
We charge one flat-fee of $500 at the beginning of the search.
How does it work?
- We call you or receive a case details form regarding facts about your case and what you desire in an expert.
- We receive payment for the search and research a list of experts.
- We contact each expert, discuss the case facts with them, and obtain their interest in working on the case.
- They send us their CVS, fee schedules, and any contracts or information for you to review.
- We draw up a concise report that makes it easy to quickly compare the most qualified experts and attach all of the contact information and documents they send us in an email to you in less than two weeks.
- All you need to do is review the report and choose an expert to hire.
